Psychotherapy or counseling is usually done on a weekly basis and consists of talking with the therapist in order to help the client process and understand the issues in their lives. And, perhaps as time goes on, begin to live in a more real and authentic way that is more in line with whom you truly are. Therapy can help address many types of issues including depression, anxiety, conflict, grief, stress management, struggles in relationships and general life transitions. Many people also find that counselors can be a tremendous asset to managing personal growth, interpersonal relationships, family concerns, couples issues, and the hassles of daily life. Therapists can provide a fresh perspective on a difficult problem or point you in the direction of a solution. The benefits you obtain from therapy depend on how well you use the process and put into practice what you learn.
I provide educated guidance and assist in exploring the issues you are struggling with, however by no means dispenses advice or tell you what to do. Rather, I view my role as an educator, giving you an informed perspective and guiding you in a thoughtful way towards what feels authentic to you in order to create lasting change. Also, I provide a safe environment for which you feel free to explore and express the issues they want to handle and, with my help, begin to learn to cope in healthier ways, communicate more effectively with others and live happier and more authentically.
I will teach you specific tools to deepen friendship and intimacy in your relationship. You will also learn how to productively manage conflicts and solve “resolvable” issues as well as more “gridlocked” (perpetual) issues. You will also learn to appreciate your relationships strengths and navigate through its vulnerabilities.
One of the most helpful tools you will learn in our work together will be around communication and being a more productive listener. Communication with your partner will be something you will practice over and over, in session, in our work together. I will encourage you in this process, which will increase patience and compassion with yourself and your partner as you both practice these skills.
It is my belief relationships serve as a platform for our personal growth and learning. I look forward to working with you as you embark on this journey of better understanding and growth with your partner.
My fee is $150/session for individual therapy and $200/session for couples.
At this time I accept Aetna and Cigna insurance for individual therapy only.
